DOWN: Stockholm Show Downgraded Due To Poor Ticket Sales
May 24, 2006Due to poor ticket sales, DOWN's June 6, 2006 show in Stockholm, Sweden has been moved from the 1500-plus-capacity Arenan to the 600-capacity Klubben. The disappointing response to the gig is believed to be at least partly due to the fact that the Sweden Rock festival is taking place June 8-10 in Sölvesborg, Sweden, with many people expected to leave for the festival site the day of the DOWN show or having set aside all their cash for Sweden Rock.
DOWN is the the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist),bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA),guitarist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR),and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA). The group kicked off their first-ever European tour on May 19 and are expected to remain on the road until mid-June.
As previously reported, DOWN have announced that they will be filming shows on their spring/summer European tour for an upcoming DVD. The band will also begin work on new material shortly after returning home from the trek and are tentatively planning on entering the studio in September to begin recording their third album.
DOWN's sophomore album, "Down II", was released in March 2002 on Elektra Records. The band headlined the second stage at the 2002 Ozzfest.
